If you have not already started thinking about upgrades, there is still time. What happens on the outside of a business is just as important, if not more important, than the inside. An entry is the first thing customers see, so you will want to be sure it is in tip-top shape to leave a positive first impression. Every June, our expert team of commercial paving contractors works with business owners just like you to help them transform their commercial spaces. Are you considering hiring an asphalt paving company, but not sure if it is for you? We have put together a list of 12 commercial asphalt benefits to help you decide.

Commercial Asphalt Paving is Multi-Use

When you think of asphalt, you probably think of parking lots and roads. While these are common uses, commercial asphalt paving covers a lot more. Asphalt is ideal for a variety of outdoor projects. What do you need paved? Is it a walkway? Perhaps it is a sports complex with tennis and basketball courts. If you have multiple areas of your commercial space that need renovating, consider talking to your contractors to learn more about their asphalt paving services. Every project requires its own tailored plan for execution.

Deliver a High-Quality First Impression

As we mentioned, the entryway is the first thing people see when they arrive or drive by. Is your current set-up dull and in need of a makeover? Do not let this lead to a loss of business. Take your current paving job to the next level with asphalt, which delivers a high-quality professional look if done correctly. Remember, if you are going to invest the time, money and effort, you will want to be sure the project is well-planned and executed properly.

The Process is Simple

Every project, whether residential or commercial, should start off with a sound, solid structure. This is key to making sure it will last. What type of traffic do you expect? Is it foot traffic, cars or heavy trucks? The more weight expected, the thicker the surface will need to be. Discuss these factors with your asphalt paving company. Spring is the best time to consider renovations and upgrades. The harsh winter conditions of the Northeast are behind us, and the humid days of summer have yet to arrive. Avoiding cold and rainy days to execute pouring is ideal. Commercial paving can require permits and other documentation, so be sure to discuss with your professional team before beginning as well.

It is a Flexible Solution

You can use a variety of materials to bring your commercial space to life. While you might see concrete in many projects on a day-to-day basis, asphalt is a more flexible material in comparison. Cracks can occur following frequent friction, freezing of water and even foliage. It breathes with the ground, and as a result, is easier to repair if and when needed. A routine maintenance plan can help fight off larger, more expensive and time consuming repair projects.

The Environmentally-Friendly Option

If you want to go for a greener option, consider porous asphalt. It allows for water drainage, which eliminates polluted water runoff. Instead, porous asphalt provides space for water to return to the ground underneath. You might even receive a tax deductible for installing an option that is great for the environment. It is a win-win.

You Can Reuse and Recycle

Asphalt is not only easy to repair, but it is also recyclable and reusable depending on the state of the current project. If your base is strong and does not need to be replaced, you will not have to start from the ground up. Your team of commercial paving contractors can take existing asphalt and break it down to reuse. This makes it more budget-friendly compared to other options. Milling involves removing the top existing layer and recycling into a new pour. Through the pulverization method, old asphalt will be turned into a new, smooth surface. Your team of professional commercial paving contractors can determine which method is best.

It is Commonly Used

Because asphalt is widely used, many asphalt paving companies do specialize in using it, but that does not mean they all deliver the same results. Shop around. Weigh the pros and cons with various commercial paving contractors. Ask questions and be cautious of any red flags. Find a team that works for you and offers solutions tailored for your project. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Whether running or still, you do not want water where it should not be. Poor drainage can eventually lead to damage and frequent maintenance repairs. Excessive amounts of water can cause potholes, erosion and other eye sores. It can also lead to puddles that you and your customers will have to walk and drive through. This is potentially a safety hazard. A commercial paving company can help make sure your space is properly leveled, sloped and paved for maximum efficiency.

You Can Add a Shining Finish

The last step in pouring asphalt is sealcoating. Sealcoating keeps your new project fresh and provides a layer of protection against harsh conditions. These include the sun’s rays, excess moisture and chemicals from vehicles that frequently drive over surfaces. Not only is sealcoating protective, it adds a fresh, finished look to your new project that is sure to grab attention for all of the right reasons.

The Cost-Effective Option

As we mentioned previously, it is easy to reuse asphalt via a variety of methods. This makes it a more cost-effective solution. The sealcoating we mentioned above can be done regularly to keep it up-to-date and well protected. While you might find yourself caring for your commercial asphalt regularly, if properly maintained, asphalt will last you years to come.

Thanks for listing the benefits of commercial asphalt paving services. I was advised by the manager to look for contractors that can pave the driveway and the parking area since it has formed uneven surfaces and cracks. Aside from it is a cost-effective option, I like that it is easy to maintain. Perhaps sweeping away the debris can already help so it won’t fill in the holes and cracks.
